Again, old stuff in this post. But not THAT old. Here are houses terrain I made a few years ago. We use these on the game table quite frequently.
Ruined houses like these are quite easy to make (I should create a step by step post about house building). They are made mostly from foamcore boards, cardboard and wood (both pine and balsa wood).
For this greenish building, the decorations are made from stick-on decorative strips used for scrapbooking.
On this bluish one, the pattern over the door is a piece of a wedding paper napkin.
Small hinge-like details on the shutters is also made from stick-on decorative strips used for scrapbooking
For this warm brown building, I used small wooden posts sold at the hobby store for building miniature boats. The decorations at the top and bottom of the walls is made from strips of wallpaper. (when I go to a hardware store, I always check their free sample pieces of embossed vinyl wallpaper…)
This last 3 stories high piece was a lot more work than the other ones, but I used the same techniques. The roof shingles were made from small squares of cardboard from a cereal box. The stone foundations are made of train modeling plasticard (hobby store). The emblem over the door? A button from an old jacket…
I hope it inspires readers to get started in home improvement projects 🙂
